Historic Preservation

The unique architecture of this city emphasizes the cultural history and innovation that make Los Angeles unique. From the early 19th century Victorian houses, 1920s American craftsman bungalows in West Adams and Jefferson Park to the art deco buildings along Wilshire Blvd. Many historic sites are at risk of demolition if they have not already been destroyed yet.

I believe that preserving Los Angeles’s historic architecture is one of the key factors that makes Los Angeles so significant and adds to the character of each neighborhood. As City Councilwoman I will push for increased local designation: “which ensures that city government must review and approve/deny alterations or demolition to property,” HPOZs (historic preservation overlay zones), and increased awareness of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQUA)
